TEFL

We are now in our second week of TEFL (teaching english as a foreign language) classes. The classes are going really well, and we enjoy our classmates very much. We are teaching Argentinian adults who want to learn English. So far we have taught the beginner level. Next week we will start with the advanced students. We are exploring more parts of the city. We are trying to get to know the neighborhoods and use the transportation systems here. We have used the SubTe and taxis alot, plus we are walking so much each day. We still have not gotten on a bus yet, the system is extremely difficult to understand, but apparently they can get you everywhere.
We went to a really unique and incredibly beautiful cemetery in an area called Ricoleta. We have posted some of the photos that we took there. This is the cemetery where the Perons are buried and a lot of other rich families of Argentina. The weather is still a little chilly, but very comfortable--around 40-60 degrees everyday. We are probably going to begin working on some of our artwork soon, based on a lot of the photos that we have been taking. We also signed up for intensive Spanish classes to start in mid-August. We will take 20 hours a week for probably 8 weeks of classes. Hopefully we will be able to speak Spanish much better after these classes. We are still struggling with the heavy accent here. We have really started to feel like we live here and work here. It is feeling more comfortable.

Ricoleta looks gorgeous. What a gift you guys are giving us to see Argentina through your pictures and interpretations! No better two people to do it then you. I hope you are taking precautions, though, while you're out adventuring around! Lots of love and luck and happiness,
Jessie

Blake and Lindy - I am so glad to hear things are going well for you. I really enjoyed reading this blog - it brings back fond memories of my travels. I think it is great that you two are doing so much exploring and it sounds like your are immersing yourself in the culture. I look forward to reading more and I am still keeping an eye out for Red Sox tickets for your friend.
Best - Lil Dave

So glad to hear that you all got there safely! :o) This whole experience is a once in a lifetime trip and it sounds like you are really enjoying all that it has to offer. In news from Washington, Chance is working hard on learning to do his forward roll...having a little problem with the "roll" portion but it is coming along nicely! :o) Look forward to more postings! Lots of love, Amber

If you both are learning intensive spanish, then I really do not need to take anymore classes. Great then, it is decided, I will take another pottery class. Honestly, I will take more classes! I hope you learn the bus system soon. I am fascinated by city busses!

I heard on NPR today that the Simpsons movie was popular in Buenos Aries..the commentator said he waited in a long line. I thought of you as I listened to the story and realized school will start soon and we will miss you. We are taking Emma back to Iowa tomorrow. It was a lovely summer.

Blake and Lindy - It is such a pleasure to be able to enjoy so much of your trip with you through your pictures. I am still hoping that we will be able to see much of it first hand, but if not this is a wonderful gift to be able to see and experience it through the two of you.
Much Love Veronica
